El Mapa Hidrogeológico de España a escala 1:1.000.000 presenta las unidades geológicas clasificadas según su carácter hidrogeológico, basándose en la permeabilidad en superficie de los afloramientos. La hidrogeología se representa por simbolización de los materiales. Es una síntesis de las formaciones hidrogeológicas permeables y acuíferos a nivel nacional, resultante de los estudios sistemáticos realizados por el IGME hasta 1991 sobre las características hidrogeológicas del territorio del Estado Español, determinando la ubicación de los acuíferos, evaluando su grado de explotación, características hidrodinámicas, recursos y reservas, y la calidad y contaminación de sus aguas. El mapa ha sido elaborado por el Instituto Geológico y Minero de España en cumplimiento de sus funciones específicas. Cubre el territorio nacional de la Península Ibérica, las Islas Baleares y las Islas Canarias. La primera edición del Mapa Hidrogeológico de España a escala 1:1.000.000 corresponde a 1991 En 1999 se realiza una segunda edición, incorporando al mapa hidrogeológico las Unidades hidrogeológicas de España. |
