En este mapa a escala 1:1.000.000 se representan los depósitos datados como Plio-Pleistocenos hasta los contemporáneos clasificados en 10 intervalos geocronológicos y separados en función de su génesis. Se incluyen además fenómenos glaciares, volcánicos, kársticos, eólicos, litorales, edáficos, paleontológicos y prehistóricos. Ha sido realizado por el Instituto Geológico y Minero de España (denominado entonces Instituto Tecnológico GeoMinero de España) con la colaboración de expertos del ámbito académico principalmente y de centros públicos de investigación. Cubre todo el territorio nacional, incluyendo los archipiélagos, con la excepción de Melilla. |
